We had 30 participants for the jitney. It was a great day for bowling with many wonderful shots and a lot of laughter and chat. 'The Parksville Exchange event on Sep 1 saw 24 players from each Club competing in 2 games of Triples. What a great sight it is to see our green with every Rink filled with players having fun and showing their skills. Parksville took home the trophy but we'll get it back next year.' Ian.

The Friendly Fours Tournament was held Thursday Sept.3, 2026. There were 8 Teams, but everything went a little sideways when 2 players didn't show up, so we had 2 teams with only three players. Congratulations to Darren Takao who won all five games to become the 2026 Men's Singles Champion. The field of 10 players was divided into two sections with Darren winning one section and Lucky Thiara winning the other section. The two had an exciting final game. Fantastic conclusion to our 'Friday Evening on the Green’ sessions. Over the last 13 weeks, we have laughed, danced, shared stories, enjoyed music, eaten some great food and even rolled some great bowls. There was some very impressive tournament play August 18 but all of the eight players had fun and everyone learnt more about the sport. My thanks to the Markers (Dawn, Reen, Sue and Ross) for their dedication and imparted knowledge. The Women's Novice Singles Tournament was won by Penelope Woodwark, who was undefeated in all three games, and, The Men's Novice Singles Tournament was won by David Kerr, who, likewise, was undefeated in all three games. The struggle to reach the top of the ladder is over, with Doug Ford reaching the top with 60 points, followed by Brian Nelson with 55 points and Bill Ferguson with 50 points. Although several players had to drop out of the Ladder League, 18 players saw it through for 11 weeks (one week was cancelled due to rain) and it wrapped up on August 10. The Ladies Singles Championship was contested in hot, sunny weather by 10 very worthy Players in a 2 Section Round Robin of 4 games and a Bye. In A Section, Maria Ridewood was successful in winning all 4 games with some very tight games. In B Section going into the last game of the day there was a possibility of 3 players being tied for winning the Section and indeed Chris Chesal was the Section Winner through being a previous game head-to-head winner. The Singles League, consisting of 21 players, drew to a close on August 4, with a very exciting and competitive semi-final and Final game. Lucky needed the very last bowl to win the extra end after a come from behind tied semi- final game against Bill. That set up a final in which the players were the individual winner of their respective group. BC Day 'Cross Country' Jitney Results The Jitney had a perfect 36 participants who played a 5 games Round Robin within 6 Leagues. The course was redesigned to eliminate backups at some Rinks and play seemed to flow quickly and evenly as a result. There was a monetary Prize for the most and second most shot points in each League and a special prize for the most shot points in a single Round (won by a Novice Member, Penelope Woodwark). The first ever Newbie League, organized by Reen Lloyd, wrapped up on July 28 with playoff games. Spirits were high, despite a little bit of rain, on July 25 and 26 for the Two-Bowl Six-Pack Tournament. Thirteen teams competed and many games were decided on the last end. The Betty & Duncan Locke Mixed Pairs Tournament was played on July 4th & 5th with 6 teams competing in a full Round Robin format. Some excellent very tight bowling was displayed, sometimes to come back from a runaway start of a game. Two teams finished with 4 games won but Bill Ferguson and Maria Ridewood were declared the Winners having won 3 more Ends in the Tournament. A new Jitney called Living on the Edge was played on this sunny Canada Day. There were 30 Players forming open draw Triples teams playing a total of 12 Ends. This very short Jack challenge demanded precise weight control and the Team of Chris Chesal, Brian Nelson, & Glen McCord achieved a perfect end of 9 bowls on the mat and shot bowl. It was another great PADS fundraiser at the Club on Sunday, June 28. There were 36 members that participated in the Bowls and BBQ fundraiser and fun was had by all. There was also the 50/50 draw and donation can for those who wanted to donate. Because of the generosity of our members we collected $1470. What a great day! June 24 was the final day of the Ladies Australian Pairs, organized by Sheila Wethered. The winners of this year's Australian Pairs are Penny Irvine and Bev Sutherland. The winners were not determined until the last ball was rolled on a game between Penny and Maria's team. After the game, the 12 ladies enjoyed some delicious strawberries. There was a great turnout for the tournament this year on June 20. We had 6 teams of three for a total number of 18 people. It was good to see some of the people who came out to watch and cheer our teams on. It came down to counting ends won. The winning team was composed of Brian C., Emily and Jude. Well done. Sadly, on June 18, Sidney beat Cowichan once again in the yearly friendly inter club day. The weather was perfect and Sidney's hospitality was perfect, as well, so, despite the loss, we had a great deal of fun. Thank you to all the contestants in the CLBC Women's 2 bowl 6 pack on June 9 & 10. It was a great tournament, with 14 teams competing, and I think everyone enjoyed themselves.
