Victoria Day Jitney: A Fun Start to the 2024 Season

The first jitney of the year took place on May 20 under beautiful, blue skies. 42 bowlers, most dressed in red, white, and blue, participated in three games - Cross the Equator, Bowl to the Centre, and Avoid the Rabbit Hole. Players enjoyed working out their strategies and there were a lot of laughs. Jude Cahoon, the organizer, is grateful to all the people who made this day a success, from the people who helped set up, to the hospitality crew who kept us full of cakes, cookies, and coffee, to the decorating team, including beautiful flowers from Dawn Nakatsu.

The day began with a spider and this was won by Kim Ferguson. The first place team consisted of Lori Brown, Dawn Nakatsu, and Bob Stevens. Second place went to Bill Ferguson, Bev Southerland, and Bronwen Cossey. Third place went to Ian Hammocks, Beth Dreidger, and Percy Cowan.

Other prizes were for the Lucky Losers Reen Lloyd, Betty Burnett, and Sheila Wethered; and the Sportsmanship-like team of Debby Davy, Janice Winfrey, and Judy Shaw. Jeff Doskotch won most colourful costume, once again.
