Lawn bowling clubs across Canada, including CLBC, celebrated National Bowls Day on Saturday, June 7. Twenty-four bowlers and a few spectators came out for a fun day of bowling, hot dogs, and fun. Each player put in $1 for a chance to win some money if they were on the winner team. We played eight ends, stopped for hot dogs, perfectly barbecued by Chuck Cooke, (who was aided by the hospitality crew of Reen Lloyd, Betty Burnett, and Victoria Watson), and ended with four ends. The winning team, with 17 points, was Cindy Lee, Roy Wilkinson, and Angie Martini. The 50/50 draw was won by Percy Cowan who received $51 and two extra draws for bowling towels were won by Emily Westgate and Jude Cahoon.
