After five years, the Men's Two-Bowl Six-Pack was revived with players from Burnside LBC, Cowichan LBC, Gordon Head LBC, and Juan de Fuca LBC. 11 teams played a round robin in 29 degree temperature and spectators were wowed by some excellent bowling, several games being neck and neck right down to the last bowl. The tournament was won by Dennis Verge, Dennis Collier, and Phillip Smith from Gordon Head with 27 points. Second place went to Brent Jansen, David Gardner, and Peter Smith of Gordon Head with 21 points and 37 ends. Right behind them in third place was Shaen McRae, Jay Huang, and Bawan Sarvanabawan, also from Gordon Head, with 21 points and 36 ends. Draw prizes went to Cowichan's Jim Irvine and Jeff Doskotch. Betty Locke was introduced after the prize giving to explain how this unusual tournament came about. She and her husband Duncan were heading to Penticton with Ross Bulley and his wife Judith. Ross asked Betty what kind of tournament she would like. She said she wanted a tournament that was tough, so only two bowls per player, but with only 6 ends, so that if you were not doing well you wouldn't have to suffer for long, and it should be a round robin, so that you play every team, and it should not have differentials. It started as a women's tournament but when the men saw how much fun the women were having, they asked to have one, as well. Thanks Betty!
