Cowichan/Sidney Exchange

On Wednesday, May 24 The Sidney LBC came to Cowichan for a friendly triples game, bringing with them a beautiful hanging basket for Cowichan. Two 12 end games were played, with a lunch in between. A few people played half a day so there was a total of 46 players. Reen and her staff of Victoria, Bev, Dawn, and Vivian made sandwiches and salads, Reen baked two cakes, and they served strawberries and ice cream with them.

Sidney won the day but kindly left the trophy at Cowichan, since they have had it for the past 5 years. Ron Leslie from Sidney explained the history of the trophy, which goes back over 20 years, and how it started out as just a boat from Safeway which was on sale for half price.

At the end of the day, we sang Happy Birthday and presented flowers to Joan Appleton who was turning 90 the next day. Joan plans to bowl for at least another 10 years.

Everyone left smiling.
